Strike Action 26/04/23 - Education cuts hurt

3rd Apr 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that the NAHT(NI) has announced that they will be taking strike action on the 26th of April 2023.

I know that this news will be disappointing and disruptive for you and your children. I want to assure you that we have explored every avenue to avoid strike action, but the employers have failed to make any meaningful offer to address our concerns.

We are striking because we believe that our children deserve a better education. We believe that they deserve schools that are properly funded.

The employers have had months to address our concerns, but they have chosen to ignore us. They have chosen to put their own interests ahead of the interests of our children.

We are taking this action as a last resort. We do not want to strike, but we feel that we have no choice. We are asking you to support us in our fight for a better education for our children.

The damage to children's education is clear. In recent years, we have seen a steady decline in school funding. This has led to cuts in staffing, resources, and support services. As a result, our children are not getting the education they deserve.

This is particularly true for our most vulnerable children. Children with special needs, children from low-income families, and children from minority groups are all being short-changed.

We cannot allow this to continue. We must stand up for our children and demand that they get the education they deserve.

We are asking you to join us in our fight for a better education for our children. Please contact your MLA and tell them that you support our strike action.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely,

Clare Evans
